Most recent North American Destination:

Riding the Rocky Mountaineer between Denver & Moab, before taking a tour of the national parks in Utah. This was an utterly incredible trip and one that has been on my bucket list for a long time! Travelling across Colorado and Utah by train was an amazing opportunity, but seeing it from the luxury of the Rocky Mountaineer made this journey even more memorable. Following on from Moab, we took a road trip across Utah, taking in some of America’s most breath-taking national parks.

Favourite American Destination

It has to be New England in the Fall. Whether its a long walk on a wind swept beach at Cape Cod or  leaf peeping in the Green Mountains, there’s no place like New England in the Autumn. I love the quaint atmosphere of the small towns and coming back to cozy B&B after a day exploring!

Favourite Canadian Destination

I was blown away when I first visited Banff & the Canadian Rockies. The mountain scenery and turquoise of Lake Louise was simply wonderful. I was lucky enough to take a ride on The Rocky Mountaineer, which was the perfect way to travel.

Favourite Worldwide Destination

I love Antigua so much because its stunning turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, friendly and welcoming people. Its relaxed vibes instantly create a sense of peace, joy, and belonging that I haven’t found anywhere else!

Next Stop:

Zakynthos, Greece. The Greek Islands are perfect for an end of summer escape. Its a bonus being able to take off from Gatwick in the morning and be in Greece for lunch and a cocktail by the pool. Cheers!

James Pavlou (Senior Travel Consultant & Social Media coordinator)

Having returned from a year exploring the world on a gap year, James decided that  a career in travel was where his future lay. After nearly 20 years as a long haul travel specialist he made the move back to Tunbridge Wells, joining us here at AmeriCan and Worldwide. These days James still loves an adventure, but now has a young family in tow!  Having lived and worked in Australia, and travelled extensively in New Zealand and South Africa with his family, James is our Southern hemisphere expert – he is also a dab hand at creating round the world itineraries.

Most recent North American Destination – Grapevine, Texas.

I was smitten with Grapevine from the day I arrived. Just ten minutes from Dallas airport, this pretty town is like stepping back in time. I loved exploring its characterful main street and meetings its friendly locals. Historic Fort Worth is just a train ride way, with the Grapevine Vintage Railroad taking you right to the Stock Yards. Grapevine is a perfect place to start or end your tour of Texas.

Favourite American Destinatio – Zion National Park, Utah.

I combined Zion with a city break to Las Vegas. It is absolutely stunning and I was surprised at just how easy it was to drive to Utah and Zion National Park. We took advantage of the hop on/hop off  buses that shuttle visitors round the park. Walking through the Narrows, was a wonderful way to cool off on a hot day! The town of Springfield made an excellent base for a short stay.

Favourite Canadian Destination – Vancouver, BC

I love cities at the best of times, but especially when they are as beautiful as Vancouver. The best bit of Vancouver is having so much green space nearby, yet being able to return to town in time for dinner and a night out. Cycling through Stanley Park in search of totem poles was a lot of fun, but crossing the Capilano Suspension Bridge was even more of an adventure! I can’t wait to go back to try a wildlife experience.

Favourite Worldwide Destination – Western Australia

I spent a few months living in Perth when I was backpacking in Australia and it was always the place that felt the most like home. The people are incredibly friendly and genuine, but the true wonders could be found outside the city. Within a few hours drive of Perth you could be swimming with dolphins, driving through a desert, walking through giant forests or sampling some of Australia’s best wines.  There’s no place like WA.

Next Stop: Peru and New York

I’m so excited for this trip! Not just to be visiting Peru for the first time, but also to be taking my children to New York. Machu Pichu has been on my travel bucket list for a very long time, but I’m also looking forward to visiting the floating islands and Colca Canyon. New York is one of my absolute favourite cities and I cannot wait to share it with my kids!

Matthew Thompson (Manager)

With twenty years experience in the business, Matt has worked for both small independent agents and large long haul tour operators. Having spent 3 years living, working and skiing in Canada and the USA, there are few places that he is yet to visit in North America.  When Matt is not managing the office and creating complex tailor-made itineraries, he is an avid skier. Matt has skied all over the world including the USA, Canada, New Zealand and Europe. He’s our go to Ski and Snowboard expert and the man behind AmeriCan Ski.

Most recent North American Destination – New York State

It’s a beautiful part of the USA that often feels off the beaten track. The Finger Lakes are particularly idyllic, with picturesque mansions, perched on the edge of glassy lakes. Following the route along the Erie Canal gave me a fascinating insight into the early economic development of New York state and the USA. Finally, the epic power of Niagara Falls never fails to impress – this is somewhere everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime!

Favourite American Destination –  Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

I love Yellowstone National Park because of the incredible natural beauty and the vast, open spaces. Being surrounded by mountains, wildlife, and geysers really showcases just how amazing nature can be. It really is one of ‘America’s Last Best Places’

Favourite Canadian Destination: Whistler, BC

Whistler is lovely place to visit all year round, but when the ski season comes around its unbeatable! I love skiing at Whistler because of its breath taking alpine scenery, expansive terrain, and the unbeatable thrill of carving down world-class slopes. With over 8,000 acres of skiable terrain, including perfectly groomed runs, challenging bowls and glades, it never gets boring! The reliable snowfall, and high-speed lifts make for a brilliant ski experience, while the vibrant village atmosphere adds to the overall magic.

Favourite Worldwide Destination: South Island, New Zealand

For an outdoor lover, New Zealand is a mecca, in particular the South Island. There is so much beautiful scenery here, that even the shortest drives involve a photo stop! The laid-back towns of Wanaka and Queenstown really add to the experience here – I would love to go back one day.

Next Stop: Pittsburgh and The Smoky Mountains

I’m visiting Pittsburgh for the first time this summer, and I’m taking my family along too. We’re going to be hiring a motorhome and travelling South to Nashville and the Smoky Mountains. With visits to Dollywood and the Johnny Cash Museum, the kids are in for a musical education!

Anna Williams (Account Manager)

Although you won’t often hear Anna on the phone to our clients – she loves talking about travel! As well as living in Singapore for a number of years Anna has travelled (nearly) all over the world and is always thinking about her next trip. Anna is our go to expert for invoices!

Most recent North American Destination: San Francisco

San Francisco is such a fun city! I loved exploring Alcatraz and hearing all about its past on a guided tour. Fisherman’s Wharf has such a nice vibe, it was great being able to walk out from our hotel in the evenings and enjoy its restaurants and bars. The best bit of the trip for me was cycling across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito.

Favourite American Destination: Bryce Canyon, Utah

Bryce Canyon was off the scale with its beauty! The towering hoodoos and vibrant red rock formations made me feel like I was walking through a natural cathedral. The stunning sunrise views, and quiet hiking trails created a sense of wonder and tranquillity I won’t forget.

Favourite Canadian Destination:

I haven’t been yet but it’s high up on my list of places to visit!

Favourite Worldwide Destination: Asia

That is a really difficult question, there is so many to choose from, but Asia is really special to me. Living in Singapore for a number of years I had the freedom to jet around Asia on my holidays and for long weekends. The food is wonderful, the people are incredibly friendly and there is so much to see and do.

Next Stop: The Maldives

I first visited the Maldives years ago, so I am excited to be returning with my children. Its a surprisingly great destination for older children, with loads of fun to be had on the water. There will be lots of snorkelling and paddle boarding, but I hope to enjoy some down time too!
