Sometimes life comes at you so fast that it can feel like there’s no time for romance. That’s not the case on Mackinac Island, a sleepy corner of Michigan where time stands still. Since 1901 cars have been banned on Mackinac, so everything and everyone travels at a slower pace – not that there’s far to travel. This little island only measures just over 4 square miles, so getting around it is easy with the help of a bike (tandem optional!) or a romantic horse drawn carriage ride.
