Tasmanian Adventure

Get ready for a Tasmanian Adventure!

With its ever-changing landscapes, quiet roads, and compact size, Tasmania is the only place in Australia where you can go from alpine peaks to pristine beaches in a single afternoon—and still have time to stop at a vineyard along the way.

What makes Tasmania truly special is the raw beauty of its environment. Rugged mountains, ancient forests, dramatic coastlines, and crystal-clear rivers shape the landscape, creating a sense of wilderness that feels both accessible and untouched. National parks are everywhere, and wildlife—from wombats and wallabies to sea eagles and seals—is part of the everyday experience.

But Tasmania isn’t just about nature. It’s a place where small towns have strong personalities, local food and wine take centre stage, and history is never far from view. Convict sites, colonial villages, and Indigenous heritage add layers of meaning to the scenery, making every stop along the way more than just a photo opportunity.

Whether you’re into hiking, surfing, fishing, art, or just taking the long way around, Tasmania offers the freedom to explore at your own pace. There’s no need to rush—every road leads somewhere interesting, and the journey itself is half the reward.

This is road tripping as it should be: unhurried, immersive, and unforgettable.

As with all our Australia itineraries your Tasmanian Adventure can be tailor-made to suit you. Take the ferry to MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) and be immersed in this spectacular architectural creation that showcases the art collection of David Walsh – a native of Hobart and professional gambler. With bars, restaurants and a winery onsite, you can easily make a day of this quirky museum. If you are in town over the weekend, then a visit to Farm Gate Market is a must. Grab breakfast from a street vendor or gather fresh produce for a picnic – either way your meal won’t have travelled far. Sat on a stunning riverfront location at the foot of Mount Wellington – Hobart also offers plenty of chances to get outdoors. Take a hike in time to see sunrise from the summit, paddle the harbour from the water with a kayak tour, or enjoy a relaxed stroll in the Botanical Gardens.

Hike from the centre of town to the pretty Hogarth Falls and you may spot platypus swimming in the creek. A relaxing way to spend an afternoon or evening is a lunch or dinner cruise aboard the Gordon River. Your cruise will make a stop along the tranquil Gordon River, giving you the chance to kayak amongst this stunning landscape. Travel north to the epic 90 mile beach, an endless sandy beach that has been pummelled by the Southern Ocean. Brave adventurers may want to raft the King River rapids, or ‘surf’ the Henty dunes.
