Our once in a lifetime collection is a collection of unique and luxurious travel experiences that you’ll only find in the USA and Canada.
These hand-picked adventures can be arranged as a standalone itinerary or as part of a bigger trip to North America or beyond.
North Americas most luxurious train – The Rocky Mountaineer
The Rocky Mountaineer offers you the chance to travel through the USA and Canada in both comfort and style.
Walk the red carpet before stepping aboard a journey that will leisurely transport you through the dramatic lake sand mountains of the Canadian Rockies, or the vast red canyons of Colorado and Utah.
Sit back and soak up the scenery from panoramic windows or a glass domed observation lounge. Throughout your journey will be served elegantly plated local dishes, and fine beverages, as you drink in the scenery and wildlife that passes by your window.
The Rocky Mountaineer only travels in daylight hours, meaning you won’t miss a minute of the dramatic landscapes and you’ll also be able to enjoy a good night’s sleep before resuming your journey the following morning.
We can arrange trips aboard the Rocky Mountaineer ranging from 1-10 nights. These can be combined as part of a self-drive itinerary in Canada or combine this with an Alaska cruise.
Journey To The Tundra – Polar bear watching in Churchill, Canada
Travel North to Churchill, Manitoba, located on the icy shores of Hudson Bay and your days will be filled with adventure and your nights with magic.
At the last count, Churchills human population was just 870, slightly lower than the number of polar bears that take up residence here whilst waiting for Hudson Bay to freeze over.
During this short window travellers can observe these incredible animals gearing up for their long winter on the ice. From the safety and comfort of an arctic crawler you’ll be able to watch these curious and at times playful bears in their natural habitat.
If travelling in the summer months you also have the option of spotting Beluga Whales, these rare creatures migrate to the warmer waters of the Churchill River each year as they come to birth their calves and feed.
Other experiences in this arctic wonderland include dog mushing and helicopter rides across the Tundra.
Polar Bear and Beluga viewing trips typically range from 4-6 nights and can be easily combined with a broader trip of Canada.
Riding The Mother Road – Route 66 by Motorcycle
Spanning 2448 miles from the skyscrapers of the ‘Windy City’ to the sun kissed shores of Santa Monica Pier, Route 66 is probably the most famous highway in the USA if not the world.
Some dream of riding this iconic road in a convertible, but for the ultimate bucket list experience we recommend that you travel on two wheels. Whether you are riding solo, bringing a friend or joining an escorted group tour, we can arrange an unforgettable road trip for you along the Mother Road.
Passing through 8 different states and three time zones, you’ll see more of America than most people will see in their lifetime. You can expect to experience varying landscapes, quirky small towns and heaps of nostalgia. Think 1950’s style diners, retro motels and old-fashioned filling stations.
Our guided tours include the very latest motorcycle models, a door-to-door luggage service, a support vehicle and many other extras that will make your journey as smooth as possible.
In search of Grizzlies – Knights Inlet Lodge, Canada
Floating on a fjord on the West Coast of Canada, Knights Inlet Lodge offers its guests some of the very best wildlife viewing in the country.
This rustic lodge can only be reached by boat or sea plane, adding to the sense of adventure as you travel from Campbell River.
Surrounded by mountains the appropriately named Great Bear Rainforest, the scenery here is as impressive as the wildlife. In addition to a large population of grizzly bears, the forests here are roamed by wolves and the inlet is home to whales, otters and seals.
Bear spotting is the big draw here though, with the season running from May-October. If you visit in the Spring, you may spot young cubs and adult grizzlies emerging from hibernation to forage on new growth. Towards the end of the season, the salmon run will be taking place and you are likely to see bears feasting in the river.
We can arrange 2-4 night stays at Knights Inlet Lodge, with the option of combining these with a city break with Vancouver, an Alaska cruise or a trip aboard the Rocky Mountaineer.
Auroras Dance – A winter escape to the Yukon
With a season that stretches from August to April, the Yukon is without a doubt one of the best places in the world to view the natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights.
The most special time to view this magical solar dance though is in the first few weeks of winter, when the Aurora Borealis can be spotted nearby to both Whitehorse, the Yukon’s capital city, and the former Goldrush hub of Dawson City.
When travelling in winter, we can also arrange a host of activities such as dog sledding, ice fishing, snowmobiling or snow shoeing – making this an exciting winter escape.
A Cowboys Life – Ranch Holidays
A ranch holiday can be a memorable way for adventure loving families to reconnect with each other and enjoy the great outdoors.
Offering an authentic cowboy experience that is focused on riding and adventure, you’ll spend your days riding amongst rugged landscapes that are straight out of a western (. Come evening you’ll be able to enjoy a campfire and home style cooking under starlit skies, before retiring to rustic yet luxurious accommodations.
As well as daily horse rides, America’s best dude ranches often offer a host of other activities. Depending on the region you are visiting these can include archery, shooting, fishing or white-water rafting – making these a good option for active families.
We can arrange ranch holidays across the USA including Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado and of course Texas.
