Tyax
250 miles
Another long drive today and one which has many routes to take! Your route will depend on places you want to stop at on the way. There is no real direct route at all! You could either go to Kamloops and then Merritt, across to Lytton and then north again to Lillooet where you meet the summer road to Tyax - about 250 miles. You could also travel to Kamloops, across to Cache Creek and then onto Lillooet and to the summer road - about 180 miles. The second route is shorter but is on smaller highways. Tucked away in the heart of the Chilcotin Mountains lies the largest log lodge in the West, nestled on the shores of Tyaughton Lake with views of snow covered peaks up to 9,500ft.
Tyax Mountain Lake Resort is a first class Outdoor Adventure Resort located 5 hours north of Vancouver and 1.5 miles west of Lillooet. Stay in one of the spacious rooms or in a cozy lakeside log chalet. You can enjoy horseback riding on trail rides into the high country, excellent fishing, secluded hiking trails, gold panning, mountain biking, volleyball and tennis courts, recreation and fitness rooms, sauna and outdoor Jacuzzi. In their own floatplane you can experience the true untamed Canadian wilderness ranging from flightseeing trips over the vast Bridge River Glacier fields and untamed Canadian Wilderness as well as drop-offs at a remote alpine lake for hiking through the wildflower carpeted meadows and fishing for the hard fighting rainbow trout. Here, at the resort, there is a sandy beach with canoes, row and pedalboats, sailboats and motorboats. On warmer evenings, there might be a BBQ on the lakeshore with campfire and singing cowboy. It is all here, a real Canadian adventure, combined with fine dining and first class facilities.
Today you will be taken on an exciting floatplane excursion from Tyaughton Lake over the mountains. The remainder of the day is yours to partake in optional activities such as horseback riding, fishing and goldpanning and other resort activities. Alternatively you could just select a good spot and a good book and relax in this wilderness retreat.
