LOST VALLEY Dude Ranch - Sedalla, Colorado
EXCELLENT FOR FAMILIES, COUPLES AND SINGLES
Whilst located only 60 miles south west of Denver , you could be forgiven for thinking you were in a totally wilderness area at The Lost Valley Ranch which is located in the Pike National Forest. Although a forest fire went through the area in 2002, the ranch was relatively un-affected. In fact repeat guests even say the views are far better now without so many trees!
With accommodation in high quality log cabins settled neatly around the main ranch house where guests gather for meals and entertainment. Lost Valley's big plus is it's kids and youth programmes with separate entertainment for smaller children, 6 to 12 year olds and the teenagers. Rides are also geared to your ability with morning and afternoon trips out. In September they have a number of Horsemanship Clinics and cattle round ups. It's a popular ranch for returning guests so early booking is recommended. Alcohol be consumed in Open April to November, Sunday to Sunday. They offer a transfer service between Denver and the ranch.
WHITE STALLION Dude Ranch - Tucson, Arizona

A delightful Spanish style ranch only 17 miles from Tucson, yet in an isolated and quiet desert garden setting. Rugged mountains form a backdrop to the rides, both fast and slow, which take you over the once wild range. Seasonal all day rides into the Saguaro National Monumentat an easy pace are a perfect way to experience the desert. Purebred Texas longhorn cattle graze White Stallion's 3000 acres and the weekly rodeo with team roping, steer wrestling, a cutting horse demonstration and barrel racing gives the wranglers a chance to show off their cowboy skills. Children and adults if they wish may brush and saddle their own horse. A warm hospitable ranch which basks in the glorious Arizona sun. Transfers are included from Tucson. Open September to May. CHEROKEE PARK Dude Ranch - Livermore, Colorado

One of Colorado's best kept secrets, Cherokee Park Ranch was once a turn of the century stagecoach stop. Situated at 7000 ft in an unpopulated corner of the vast Roosevelt National Forest, 100 miles north of Denver. Comfortable rustic and modernised accommodations have kept the character of the ranch well preserved. The ranch has a great bunch of wranglers and horses to assure a variety of scenic rides. With a lively supervised programme for children and an optional pack trip, Cherokee Park provides a perfect ranch vacation. The ranch sits at 5600 feet below Elephant Head Mountain, just 50 miles north of Yellowstone. It borders the immense Gallatin National Forest in the Absaroka Mountains. To the north are rolling grassy hills, ridges and sagebrush benches above the Yellowstone River - a truly magic location! Tucked among aspen and pine are rustic log or frame cabins with modern bathrooms. This is a real western working guest ranch. Guests often join in moving cattle and learning to lasso. Horses outnumber guests by two to one. There is a wide range of mounts for kids as well as the more expert riders. You can ride morning and afternoon six days a week with full day rides weekly. During the summer there's a weekly overnight pack trip to 'Bear Wallow' Widerness. It's a vast playground of dark forests, loft peaks, canyons and cascading creeks. It is home to elk, muke deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, moose, mountain lion and bear. Open June to Mid September, Sunday to Sunday.
SILVER SPUR RANCH Working Ranch - Dubois, Idaho

Cowboy til your hearts content at the Silver Spur Ranch, situated about 40 miles northwest of Dubois, along the Idaho/Montana border. Headquartered at Warm Creek Cow camp at an elevation of 7500ft, the ranch run up to 2000 mother cows and their calves on their summer range. This will be your opportunity to live the authentic life of one of today's working cowboys. Nothing fancy living in log cabins(one is a reconstructed school house), with an 'open air' hot shower fed from water pumped from the stream, but some of the best home cooking you have ever tasted! Special Horse drives and Ranch Stay weeks are offered through the summer - a wonderful opportunity for experienced riders to round up and drive horses through 60 miles of the most beautiful backcountry close to the Continental Divide.
