Welcome to Philadelphia, the East Coast's second largest City.
Fabulous Philadelphia remains something of a well-kept secret. This scintillating city is one of the oldest in the US. Visit the ornate City Hall, Reading Terminal Market, a popular European style market place and the colourful Friendship Gate, which marks the entrance to the city's China Town. The Historic Waterfront has charming courtyards, and brick paved pathways leading to the Society Hill area. Penn's Landing is the waterfront area where you will find the Moshulu, the largest four-masted sailing ship still afloat, which offers superb cuisine. Visit the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which sits at the top of the steps, made famous by the 'Rocky' movies. At the National Constitution Centre, you can walk among life-size statues of the delegates present at the signing of the Constitution in 1787 and take the Presidential Oath of Office.
Discover the city's many museums - from the Franklin Institute to the Rodin Museum.
And don't forget the shopping! Philadelphia's downtown is known as Center City and has more than 2,100 retailers including boutiques, art galleries, museum shops and malls. Malls include the Shops at Liberty Place, The Bellevue and The Gallery at Market East. Just outside of Centre City is the huge King of Prussia Mall packed with 450 stores.
With the dollar at an historic low and no sales tax on clothing or shoes, bargain hunters can save a bundle!
