La Ville Souterraine - During the long Montreal Winter, people escape into Montreal’s underground city. A subterranean network of corridors and plazas that allow you to shop, eat see a movie and conduct business without having to brave the elements.
Maple Syrup - Quebec is the world’s largest producer of maple syrup. The sugar-maple forests get ‘tapped’ in Spring and the liquid is then boiled at the ‘sugar shack’. You will find authentic sugar shacks in this region where you can see the demonstrations and taste the produce.
Calgary Stampede - Dating from 1912, this is a fun 10-day festival opening with a huge parade and usually held in the second week of July each year. Stampede Park comes alive with shows, concerts, eating, drinking, chuck wagon races, bucking broncos and calf roping. Book well in advance as accommodation is scarce during the celebrations.
Icefields Parkway - The Parkway is a 230-km road that links Jasper to Lake Louise, and is one of the most spectacular roads in Canada. The mountains here are the highest and most scenic in all the Rockies and there are many breathtaking viewpoints to be enjoyed along the way. Take a full day to explore the many trails and stunning scenery.
Totem Poles - Totem poles identify a family’s lineage and they provide a means of communicating the family’s stories, myths and legends. The totem pole is an arrangement of symbols or memory devices in sequence created for the purpose of recalling a story or event. They are read from top to bottom, from present to past.
Stanley Park - Stanley Park reflects the majestic wilderness for which Vancouver and western Canada is famous. Named after Lord Stanley (Stanley Cup), the area is the largest urban park on the continent; it’s spread over 1,000 acres. Surrounded by water and mountain ranges the park is a recreational getaway of forest trails, jogging biking and hiking routes, outdoor theatres and long beaches.
