Guest Ranch - Boise, Idaho
This is one of the best ranches if you need to improve your western riding. Brad Ford and wife Brenda run a horse arena down in Boise during the winter and he trains visitors in the art of reining and cutting. In the summer this is all transferred up to their charming ranch near Smiths Ferry.
The Fords built the ranch house and all the cabins by hand to give the place a real pioneer feeling. A number of cabins now have private bathrooms and a large washroom is provided for the remaining guests. Family style meals are served in the lodge and evening entertainment happens here too. Riding is over many thousands of acres of forest to the west of the ranch and up the valley towards the town of McCall.
When the riding is done there are trails to hike and lakes to fish all set in a quiet and green valley. The riding and good company makes 4D a popular ranch for adult visitors, while kids are not discouraged, there isn’t a programme available for them. If you like the idea of combining a ranch stay and a white water rafting trip, The Snake River runs through Hells Canyon out to the west of the State. 4D provide transfers from Boise.
